ALADIN Single Sign-on

Many ALADIN services provide access to licensed resources or personalized services that require you to login. On the login page, you identify yourself with your university ID number or library barcode number, last name, and the university with which you are associated.

Once authenticated, you should not have to login again, even as you use different ALADIN services on different Web sites, unless your session times out (30 minutes without accessing any ALADIN Web pages) or you close your Web browser. If you are on-cam pus you can access some services without logging in, but will need to login when you first access a personalized service, like MyALADIN. If you login to access licensed resources from off-campus, you will be challenged to re-enter your last name the first time you subsequently access a personalized service.

You should always logout of MyALADIN and close the Web browser when you leave a computer that others can use (for example, in the library or a computer lab), to prevent anyone else from accessing your library account.

MyALADIN is an area where you can view/renew books online, update contact information, store your e-resources links, and view/track consortial loan requests. This section of ALADIN Help is adapted from American University Libraries' MyALADIN tutorial, prepared by Steven Bergen.

Two numbers may be used to login to myAladin:
  1. Institution ID Number - located on your ID. Do not include the last two digits following the seven-digit number, if present.

  2. Barcode Number - the small number located underneath the barcode on your ID. If you use this number, DO NOT include any letters that precede or follow the barcode number. Your barcode number will always begin with a series of numbers identifying your insititution:

    George Mason 22777
    George Washington 22882
    Georgetown
9-digit GOCard number (begins with 8)

To view books checked out on your account, you must click one of the three links under eh heading "WRLC Libraries Actvities."
*Keep in mind that all CL books may not appear under one link. If you have books from Georgetown, George Mason or Trinity, you must view them through separate links.

To renew books online, click on the "view" link next to the corresponding school. After clicking on the link for "AU, CU, DC, GA, GW, MU" a new page will appear. From this new page, you will see your contact information on file, any books you have chec ked out, and holds/recalls available, and any fines you may have. To renew books, click on the "renew online" button located at the top of the list of books on your account. The next screen will have the same list of books, but you will see check boxes ne xt to each title. Select the boxes next to each book you would like to renew. After you have selected each book for renewal, click on the "Renew Items" button at the bottom of the list.

If your books are successfully renewed, your confirmation page will appear. A new due date and a status of renewed will appear next to each successfully renewed book. Please print this page for your records. Books are not renewed if you don't not see th e confirmation page. Reasons why books will not renew online include:

  • You have $25.00 or more in fines
  • The books have already been renewed three times online
  • The books have a hold or recall request from another patron

If your renewals do not go through, please contact your institutions Circulation Desk via the contact information above.
